New Installations & Rewires

From flats and houses to one off bespoke builds, Fusilier can cater for all your needs. We can design electrical schemes for lighting and power and introduce the use of lighting control systems. We talk with you about your requirements so the electrical system fits around you.

Whether you are having a total or partial rewire, rest assured we are experts in this field and we use special wiring techniques to minimise the disturbance to your property. The Fusilier team works to very high standards and will complete your rewire quickly and efficiently.

Replacement Distribution Boards

Most distribution boards in residential homes today do not comply with current IET wiring regulations. This is quite a scary fact as it is one of the most important parts of the installation.

Consumer units now should have at least two RCDs which work independently of each other and a surge protection device.

Fusilier offers a very competitive rate to replace your unit with the latest version.

Surge Protection

The new amendment of the electrical regulations that came into force in January 2011 now requires certain domestic installations to have surge protection. The most obvious source is from lightning, but surges can also come from normal utility switching operations, or unintentional grounding of electrical conductors (such as when an overhead power line falls to the ground).

We all spend thousands of pounds on computers, tablets, plasma’s and then plug them directly into the mains without a thought. But these surges in the power supply do exist and do damage electronic equipment.

We can supply and install surge protection devices to protect all your electrical equipment on a full scale commercial site or domestic property. To give you an idea the general cost on a domestic installation with a modern board can be as little as £200 which would then protect all the items in your home.

Energy Efficient Lighting

LED lighting is one of the most energy-efficient forms of lighting available today. To give you an idea  a 7W LED lamp typically consumes 80% less energy than a conventional GU10 50W halogen lamp. An Led lasts on average 25000 hours in comparison to 1000 hours from a halogen equivalent. They can also be dimmed to a desired lighting level which also saves energy and lamp life.

What is an LED Light Bulb?

The LED (Light Emitting Diode) light bulb can be a cluster of individual units or a single high-powered diode. They generally come in three colour intensities 2800k, 4000k, 6000k. The 2800k is similar to incandescent light which is suitable for lounge and bedroom. The 4000k & 6000k is much whiter light more suited to kitchens and bathrooms.

Benefits of LED Lighting

  • Energy efficiency – The light bulbs burn very cool, while incandescent bulbs emit 98% of their energy as heat! Much better value for money.
  • Cost saving – LED lighting is one of the most energy-efficient forms of light available today. A 7W LED lamp typically consumes 80% less energy than a conventional 50W halogen lamp (GU10).
  • Long life – These lights can last from 25,000 to 75,000 hours. Incandescent light bulbs typically last around 1,000 hours and fluorescents roughly 10,000 hours.
  • Rugged durability – LED lights have no fragile filament to contend with and no fragile tube. They are resistant to heat, cold, and shock.

Voltage Optimisation

Voltage optimisation has been around for years in the commercial industry but now it is available for the domestic sectors as well.

On the market today there are a number of units designed and manufactured by various different companies, all of which have their merits. The latest of these voltage optimization units is the Voltis Home which is made by Marshall Tufflex. Whilst the fundamentals of the technology remain the same, the Voltis Home unit actively monitors your incoming voltage and your demand then adjusts itself to maximise the potential savings.

What is voltage optimization?

On average the voltage level supplied to your home is 240v but it can range up to 250v in some places depending on how close you live to a substation. A Voltage optimisation unit is a device which reduces the incoming supply voltage to your property to 220v. This reduction in the electrical voltage will allow your electrical equipment to run smoother and generate less heat which saves energy.

This small change will reduce your energy consumption by 20% annually and it will also increase the life output of your electrical appliance and lamps.

Lutron Lighting Control

Lutron is a very clever lighting system that will control all the lights in your building or maybe just one main area. Lutron can give a warm ambiance of light everywhere and bright light in specific areas where you need it at the touch of a button. You can select up to ten lighting mood effects you want which are memorised in the unit. When you wish to replay say mood 1 for example you just hit the 1 button on the wall switch, simple.

The system can be linked up to your security system to bring all the lights on in the event of an alarm. It can be linked to the fire alarm system to give you a low level light path out of the building. Lutron will also memorise what lights you use on a day to day basis and replay the light’s in vacation mode.

Garden Lighting

Fusilier Electrical can design, and work with you to make sure we understand what you want from your garden. We have a number of different style fittings that are suitable for British standards and IP rating. We use low power consumption lamps such as LED’s and fluorescent lights, which are very effective in highlighting shrubs and trees and use minimal amounts of electricity.

We can also install and integrate a lighting control system which will allow you to control multiple lights at different lighting levels to create a scene. We then install an app onto your smartphone which will allow you to control the whole system.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

We do a range of smoke detectors that are mains wired with battery backup. These detectors can be linked together so if there is an alarm condition in one zone all the other zones will activate. We would install a range of heat, optical, ionisation and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the building to provide total protection and to minimise false alarms.
